|
|
Thousands of 19th and 20th century visitors, filling over 60 magnificent hotels and boarding houses, traveled by canal boat, stagecoach, train and buggies to soak in the mineral baths. Oscar Wilde, Vanderbilt, Macy, Grant and Whistler’s mother stayed at the glorious 500-room Pavilion Hotel. Walk along Main Street and experience Sharon Springs’ rich history and ongoing restoration through a self-guided tour. Twenty plaques along Main Street depict the lives and times of this National Historic Register spa village with rare early photos and insight to the lives of those who lived during Sharon Springs’ “Golden Era.”
